Download HP Compaq 2710p Authentec Fingerprint Driver v.1.10 D for Windows Vista (32/64-bit), XP (32/64-bit), 2000. Download is free of charge. Just for anyone to know, I've been using my hp 2710p tablet pc with windows 10 since about a year and a half ago. Thereis some missing drivers, The PCI serial something, and the other one PCI that I cant remember the name. Thats why I'm here I got the time to search for those missing drivers. It's working great, just updated to the latest build of windows 10 pro. But It adds another missing driver, the base system device that I'm currently searcing. Among the problems I've mention, the fingerprint scanner and the volume slider is'nt working. Well i'm not using it anyway you can adjust volume in the taskbar. Everything is working great, windows 10 gives new life to this really old laptop(10 years?). I'm using this as a drawing tablet in photoshop CC without any problem. I just endure the sluggishness when I paint large brushes. Ask me if you have problem with your hp2710p, via facebook maybe. Search my name Ferdinand Libertes Tugano. What are people using for the HP Protect Tools for Windows 7? I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit and Windows warns when installing and everytime I boot that the version of Protect Tools I'm using is not compatible with Windows 7. I installed the Vista 32 Business version of the Protect Tools. I tried the Windows 7 version of the tools for the 2730p and they installed fine and Windows didn't complain about the compatility, but the fingerprint reader and identity manager part of Protect Tools doesn't work. I went back to the Vista versions and they appear to work, but Windows keeps complaining about them. Just hang on for a couple of more days. It looks like HP is adding updated drivers two or three times a day. Seems like every time I check, there's something new. I have never used any of the Vista drivers with WIndows 7, they don't behave very well. Now for another subject, does anyone have any idea what the one remaining unidentified 'Base System Device' is in the Device Manager? I haven't been able to figure it out and I've Googled most of the device info trying to at least find out who the manufacturer is. Just hang on for a couple of more days. Click to expand.I've been able to identify all the hardware devices under Windows 7. I have an SSD so I hadn't installed the 3D driveGuard software and that installed a driver for the drive sensor. Before that the drive sensor showed up as an unknown device. There are no Windows 7 drivers for the Intel AMT MEI yet. The Intel AMT MEI will show up as a PCI communications controller and a serial port. If you post the hardware ID for the unknown device, I'll try to figure out what device it is and what driver I'm using. HP Compaq 2710p (Core 2 Duo 1.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 100GB HDD, Vista Bu Hewlett-Packard has struggled for years to find a way to define its dueling Compaq and HP brand names. The company tags its HP Pavilion systems as multimedia-friendly consumer devices, while the Compaq name is used for the company's line of business-oriented laptops and desktops (although some cheaper consumer desktops use the name Compaq Presario, so the naming confusion continues to a degree). The current lineup of Compaq-branded business laptops, including the 14-inch HP Compaq 6910p and the 12-inch, has comprised solid--if uninspired--products. Another new addition, the $1,749 HP Compaq 2710p convertible tablet, takes a more design-oriented approach. With brushed-aluminum accents, this is one of the nicer-looking tablets we've seen, but it's marred by one unthinkable omission. Although the wrist rest supplies enough room, there's no touchpad, leaving only a ThinkPad-esque point stick for your mousing pleasure. You may be able to overlook the absence of a touch pad if you plan to use the Compaq 2710p as a full-time tablet, or perhaps you're one of the few pointing-stick fans left; it seems to be a generational thing.
